Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent defects, occurrences of internal cracking in the graphite pin, etc., of compounded sliding boards, by pouring a molten metal into a compounded body in which graphite pins provided with a notched groove are inserted and fixed to holes formed through a template, and by cutting the separated face after the template is separated.
CONSTITUTION: Numerous holes 13 are formed through a template 9 and graphite pins 10 provided with a notched groove at the side face are inserted and fixed to the holes. When a molten metal 3 is poured into this compounded body, a thermal stress is generated between the poured metal 3 and the template 9 in the process of cooling, but the thermal stress acts as a shearing force on Q-Q face of the boundary portion because of the presence of the notched groove 11 of the graphite pin 10. Therefore, the minimum cross section portion 11a of the notched groove 11 receives a stress concentration and shows a shear fractured surface 12 having a regularity. In this way, the poured metal 3 and the template 9 can easily be separated at the boundary after the molten metal 3 is cooled. When the unevenness of the separated surface is smoothened by grinding and a machine finishing is performed at Z-Z face, a compounded sliding board of graphite and metal is obtained.
