Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a fuel level gauge for automobiles having excellent responsiveness and controllability and high precision, by a constitution wherein a signal from a sender unit detecting the level of fuel is subjected to operational processing as a function of a speed signal from a speed sensor. CONSTITUTION:A float 2a of a sender unit 2 follows the vertical movement of the level of fuel 1a in a fuel tank 1, and a resistance change signal of a sliding resistor 2b in linkage to the float is inputted in an operation unit 6. On the other hand, a speed signal from a speed sensor 8 is also inputted in the operation unit 6, and a time constant of the operational processing of the resistance change signal is determined as a function of a speed. The time constant is set at a small value when the speed is zero, while being set at a large value when the speed is large. Accordingly, even immediately after a key switch is charged (the speed is zero), the remaining quantity of fuel is indicated instantaneously with high response in indicators 7a and 7b. Also at the time of starting, stopping and travelling of automobiles, the remaining quantity of fuel is indicated with excellent controllability and high precision, since the time constant is large.
