Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent heating resistors from overheating due to accumulation of heat, by a method wherein a signal indicating the coincidence between each output of the first latch circuit group for latching parallel outputs from a shift register and each inverted output of the second latch circuit group is used as recording signal data. CONSTITUTION:The first latch circuit group 8 for latching the parallel outputs from the shift register 6 for converting the recording signal from series form into parallel form is provided, and the second latch circuit group 10 for latching each output from the circuit group 8 is provided. The signals indicating the coincidence between each output (d) from the circuit group 8 and each inverted output (f) from the circuit group 10 are used as the recording signal data (i) fed to driving elements 2 provided in correspondence to each of the heating resistors 1. Control lines 13, 15 are fed with control signals having pulse widths of t1, t2, respectively. When the same bits of the recording signal data are successively black signal data, the voltage impressing time for the heating resistor 1 is t1 which is shorter than the voltage impressing time t2 in the case where the black signal data are not generated successively.
