Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a resolution in N+1-bit with N-bit constitution, by the constitution that a symmetrical step waveform can be obtained for high and low potential sides at the same time and a follow-up comparison type D/A converter is adopted. CONSTITUTION:In a D/A converter 13, output voltages Vd1 and Vd2 form symmetrical step waveform for high and low potential sides by taking a reference voltage VREF as a reference. The voltages Vd1 and Vd2 are controlled to follow an input analog voltage Vi and an up-down counter 11 is switchingly controlled so that Vi=Vd1 is obtained at Vi>VREF and Vi=Vd2 at Vi<VREF. Maximum 16 signals of digital signals are given from the counter 11 to a decoder 30 corresponding to Vi>VREF or Vi<VREF. The digital signals given to the decoder 30 is converted into a decimal number and given to a display circuit 31. To one of liquid crystal displays 3401-3416 and 3417-3432, display is made through the comparison and discrimination between the Vi and the VREF at a comparator 29.
