Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the activity of a fuel electrode to be constantly and properly maintained by providing the surface of the catalyst layer of the fuel electrode with many fine holes, and thereby removing bubbles generated in the fuel electrode. CONSTITUTION:A fuel electrode 13 consists of a metal net 14, and a catalyst layer 15 formed on the net 14. The catalyst layer 15 is made of a porous layer having numbers of fine holes 16 arranged on the surface of the fuel electrode 13. The catalyst layer 15 is formed by applying a mixture, which consists of platinum black used as a catalyst and polyfluoroethylene used as a binding agent, equally on the net 14, before the surface of the catalyst layer is provided with holes by means of a needle with a diameter of around 0.1-2mm..
