Abstract
PURPOSE:To stabilize cooling for the shells of a blast furnace over a long period of time by inserting flexible pipes into the broken cooling pipe of a stave plate and passing water therein. CONSTITUTION:When a damaged part 7 is produced in part of a stave plate 2, and part of a cooling pipe 1 exposes, the supply of cooling water is stopped, and both end parts 9, 10 of the pipe 1 are opened. Through these opening, plural pieces of flexible tubes 1 are inserted, thence the parts 9, 10 are tightly closed. The inlets of the tubes 11 are connected to a cooling water source, and the outlets are connected to a water discharge pipe, thence cooling water is supplied therethrough to cool the plate 2. At this time, the cooling water is passed through the pipe 1 a well, whereby the decrease in the cooling effect for the plate 2 is prevented.
