Abstract
1486411 Furnace plate coolers E PEEL and W D JONES 11 Sept 1974 [11 June 1973] 27734/73 Heading F4B A plate cooler for a furnace has a body cavity 2 with cooling water inlet 7 and outlet 8. A partition 10, with the leading end 9 immediately adjacent the inlet 7, divides water entering the cavity into two separate streams 11 and 12 that merge again at the end of the partition before passing to the outlet 8. The hose part of the cooler may have a pipe cast into the front wall with separate coolant inlet 15 and outlet 16 fed from a supply manifold 17 and outlet manifold 20 that are common with the water supply for the cavity 2. Valves 19 and 22 may be provided to prevent circulation of water through the hose pipe. A central baffle 13 with an aperture 14 may be provided in the cavity 2 and a detachable end plate 23 may be provided to act as a gas seal between the furnace wall and the cooler.
