Abstract
PURPOSE:To efficiently cool work rolls to prevent an orange peel of the roll and to improve a life of the roll, by specifying an injection pressure of cooling water to the surface of work roll at the inlet and outlet sides of a rolling material and the density of flow rate of the water to the cooling surface. CONSTITUTION:Cooling of work rolls by jetting cooling water is adjusted so that, a directly cooling zone of nozzles 4a-4d is continuous in the direction of a barrel of work roll 1 and is approximately uniform, and an injection pressure of each nozzle is 1-7kg/cm<2> and an injection quantity W2 of each nozzle satisfies the condition of an expressionI. (where, P1 is an usual injection pressure of roll cooling water and P1=8-30kg/cm<2>), and further, the density of flow rate of the cooling water jetted from whole nozzles 4a-4d is decreased with an increase of the total area of directly cooling zone, and the total cooling water quantity per unit rolling quantity is >=2.5m<3>/ton, stand.
