Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture easily handleable heat freed quick lime having a superior effect as fertilizer without collapsing granules by adding a specified amount of water to coarse granular quick lime to slake part of the quick lime.
CONSTITUTION: To coarse granular quick lime in a rotary kiln or the like is added a smaller amount of water than the theoretical amount (about 32% to the amount of CaO) required to slake CaO to Ca(OH)2 while rotating the kiln. The CaO granules are partially converted into Ca(OH)2 by reaction with the water, and the remaining CaO mixes with the Ca(OH)2. Thus, the granules do not collapse, and heat freed quick lime retaining the original shape is obtd. Since this quick lime retains the granular shape, when the lime is spread as fertilizer, it is not scattered unlike powder, and it generates a smaller quantity of heat in the presence of water. Easily handleable lime fertilizer is obtd.
