Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a superior catalyst that produces phthalic anhydride by gaseous phase oxidation from orthoxylene or naphthalene by consisting the same essentially of SbVO4 and TiO2, adding a small amt. of oxide such as K to this, and depositing this on a carrier.
CONSTITUTION: A catalytic active material consisting of 1W40pts.wt. SbVO4, 60W99pts. TiO2, 0.05W1.2pts. oxides of ≥1 kind of K, Rb, Cs and Tl based on 100pts. (SbVO4+TiO2), 0.5W5pts. Sb2O3, and 0.1W3pts. P2O5 is prepared into an aq. soln. and slurry, and while an inert carrier such as SiC of about 2W10mm average diameters is maintained at about 200W300°C by external heating, these are sprayed thereon and are deposited on the carrier. At this time, it is preferable to deposit about 5W100g active materials on 100ml carrier. Thence, the carrier compsm. is calcined for about 2W6hr at about 400W600°C under the flow of air or N2, whereby the finished catalyst is obtained.
