Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a natural character pattern with small capacity of storage, by deciding the center dot according to whether the dots of the adjacent two sides are all white or black and to interpolate the enlarged character pattern based on the original character pattern. CONSTITUTION:A character pattern consisting of a dot matrix of (nXm) lines is stored in a character generating part 71 and then sampled successively by a matrix of (3X3) dots to be supplied to a character enlarging part 73 in the form of a parallel output 72. The part 73 delivers a parallel output 74 which is enlarged in a prescribed magnification ratio as a character, and this parallel output is applied to an interpolation processing part 75. Then the center dot is delivered as black in case the dots of the adjacent two sides are all black among square dot trains that enclose the dot matrix of (3X3) dots; while the center dot is delivered as white when the dots of the two sides are all white, respectively. Otherwise, the center dot is delivered with no change. Thus the interpolation is facilitated for the character pattern which is enlarged based on the original character pattern.
