Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer, having improved extrudability, and suitable for coating electric wires, etc., by grafting an aromatic vinyl monomer capable of giving a polymer having a specific glass transition point and a monomer capable of giving a polymer having a low glass transition point onto an olefinic polymer. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aromatic vinyl monomer, e.g. styrene, capable of giving a polymer having a glass transition temperature >=85 deg.C on the polymerization of the polymer having a molecular weight >=10,000 and (B) a monomer, e.g. ethyl acrylate, capable of giving a polymer having a glass transition temperature <=0 deg.C on the polymerization of the polymer having a molecular weitht >=10,000, and copolymerizable with the monomer (A) are grafted onto an olefinic polymer, e.g. ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, to give the aimed modified polymer. The monomers (A) and (B) have the product of reactivity ratios thereof at 60 deg.C <=1.
