Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure a good printing by automatically adjusting a space between a platen and a printing head with an information from a means of detecting the thickness of a paper while a driving source is provided on the platen side to adjust the space between the platen and the printing head. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of a paper 11 is detected with the rotation of a detection lever 9 when the paper 11 is pinched between a pad plate 12 and a roller 10. A control signal is emitted from a driving source control circuit 7 based on a resulting detection signal and a platen 2 is moved by a driving source 3 to a position corresponding to the thickness of the paper 11. The movement of the position is made by turning an eccentric shaft supporting the platen 2, rotating a pinion 16 which is connected to the platen 2 with a rack 15 or other methods.
