Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the corrosion resistance of a tin-free steel plate having a metallic chromium and a chromium hydroxide layers on the surface in the stage of producing said steel plate by using water setting to the specific electric conductivity of the electrolyte for formation of both the above-mentioned layers and for washing.
CONSTITUTION: Metallic Cr is electroplated on the surface of a cold rolled steel plate with an aq. soln. contg. CrO3, H2SO4, Na2SiF6. Next, this is water washed, after which it is formed with a chromium hydroxide layer by using the similar electrolyte. Thereafter, it is water washed and dried, whereby a tin-free steel plate is produced. In this case, it is possible to improve the corrosion resistance of the tin-free steel plate by using water of ≤50μΩ-1.cm-1 specific electric conductivity for the water for the above-mentioned electroplating and the washing liquid in the stage.
