Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a cylinder for the rotary screen having a large opening factor, capable of reproducing sharp fine print patterns and comprising a seamless tubular body and the secondary plating metal layer, the seamless tubular body consisting of the primary plating metal mesh substrate having a planoconvex cross- sectional shape.?
CONSTITUTION: A mother roller 1 consists of mesh-formed metal surface portions 2 corresponding to the mesh of a cylinder to be produced and nonconducting portions 3 corresponding to the opening portions of the cylinder to be produced. With this mother roller 1 immersed in an electroplating bath as a cathode, a metal is deposited on the conducting surface 2 of the roller 1 to form a platied layer 5. Since the platied layer 5 grows equally in all directions on the conductive surface of the roller 1, the cross section becomes planoconvex in shape and the dimension in the direction of thickness becomes larger relative to the dimension in the direction of plane. Accordingly, the opening factor is largely increased.
