Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover efficiently the titled high-purity substance useful as an improved raw material for polymers, by using dimethyl sulfoxide dissolving especially 4,4'-diphenylcarboxylic acid as a solvent, purifying it through recrystallization or reprecipitation.
CONSTITUTION: In purifying 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid through recrystallization or reprecipitation, 7W25pts.wt., preferably 9W20pts.wt. based on 1pts.wt. 4,4'- diphenyldicarboxylic acid of dimethyl sulfoxide as a solvent is used. The dissolving temperature is 70W140°C, preferably 80W120°C, and the solution prepared in the ratio at the dissolving temperature is allowed to be cooled to near the room temperature to recrystallize and to precipitate the above-mentioned compound. This compound is filtered off at about 20W40°C, and washed, to purify and to recover the desired high-purity compound.
