Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a high strength hot rolled steel plate with superior formability, eapecially stretch flanging property, resistance weldability and fatigue characteristics by spedifying the C, Si and Mn contents of a hot rolled steel plate and the areal percentage of bainite in the structure composed of polygonal ferrite and bainite.
CONSTITUTION: This steel plate contains 0.01W0.12% c, 0.1W1.6%Si and 0.7W 2.5%Mn and has a composite structure composed of polygonal ferrite and 5W 60% by area of bainite. steel having said composition is hot rolled, cooled to 700W500°C at 5W35°C/sec average cooling rate, further cooled at 25W80°C/sec average cooling rate, and coiled at 575W250°C. Thus, this steel can be manufactured. C is added to enhance the strength and hardenability, yet excess C increases the didderence in hardness between the flash butt weld line and its vicinity. Mn is added to compensate for a reduction in strength due to the lower C content and to obtain bainite, yet excess Mn makes the refining difficult and deteriorates the ductility. Si is added to facilitate the formation of polygonal ferrite and to enhance the strength and ductility, yet excess Si causes embrittlement to the weld zone.
