Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hot rolled steel plate with improved flash butt weldability and formability by adding Nb, V, Ti, Zr, etc. to a steel contg. a restricted amount of C, Mn, Si and Cr and specifying the area ratio of bainite in the composite structure.
CONSTITUTION: This hot-rolled steel plate for the rim of a wheel contains 0.01W 0.12% C, 0.8W2.5% Mn, 0.01W1.5% Si and 0.01W1.5% Cr, further contains one or more among 0.01W0.08% Nb, 0.02W1.5% V, 0.01W0.08% Ti and 0.02W1.8% Zr, and has a composite structure consisting of polygonal ferrite and bainite. The area ratio of the bainite in the composite structure is restricted to 5W<60%. In the composition Nb, V, Ti and Zr effectively prevent the bainite structure from being decomposed and lowered in the hardness by the affection of heat during flash butt welding.
