Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a desired heat transfer temperature by a method wherein a number of feather-like bimetal wicks each comprising two kinds of welded strips are provided on the inner wall of the heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:The feather-like wicks 2 are provided on the inner wall of the heat pipe 1. Each of the wicks 2 comprises a feather-like bronze strip 2a of a diameter of about 50mu and a feather-like amber strip 2b of the same diameter both of which strips are welded integrally with each other. Accordingly, in case where the desired heat transfer temperature is, for example, about 100 deg.C, if the two kinds of strips forming each of the wicks 2 are welded together at a predetermined angle, the wicks 2 would erect almost upright when the heat transfer temperature is below 100 deg.C so that the spaces among the wicks become large allowing an operation fluid 3 to flow through the heat pipe without limitations to thereby increase the heat transfer temperature, while when the heat transfer temperature falls down to around 10 deg.C, the spaces among the wicks 2 are narrowed so that the moving amount of the operation fluid 3 is limited. Therefore, the heat transfer operation of the heat pipe is performed at a desired temperature.
