Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit a vehicle to travel by power supplied from either of a power source on a vehicle or a power source on the ground by a method wherein the difference between received power and power required for driving a DC motor is consumed by a vehicle power generating means and resistors in travelling the vehicle by the ground power source. CONSTITUTION:When a vehicle is travelled by a power source on a vehicle, the output in an AC generator 2 driven by a diesel engine 1 is supplied to a DC motor 4 through a rectifier circuit 3, diode 6, and smoothing reactor 7. In the case of ground power, the difference power between received power supplied through contactors 10, 11 and power required for driving the DC motor 4 is supplied to the AC generator 2 and resistors 14 through the rectifer circuit 3 working as an externaly energized inverter and the difference power is consumed as unavailable power loss.
