Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the input position of a character pattern, by connecting different power sources to two coordinate detecting resistance sheets, which are arranged orthogonally, and taking out output signals in (x) and (y) directions in accordance with positions where resistance sheets are pressed. CONSTITUTION:An AC power source 5 is connected to collecting electrodes 3 and 3 of one resistance sheet 1 for detecting X coordinates, and a DC power source 6 is connected to collecting electrodes 4 and 4 of the other resistance sheet 2 for detecting Y coordinates, and the negative pole side of this DC power source 6 is connected to an earth terminal 7. The output is taken out from one collecting electrode 3 of the resistance sheet 1. This output is separated at an output separation point (m) to be led to output terminals 9 and 11 for X and Y coordinates through a DC components eliminating capacitor 8 and an AC components eliminating choke coil 10 respectively. When a point P(x,y) is pressed with a finger or the like to bring resistance layers at the point P of resistance sheets 1 and 2 into contact with each other electrically, an AC voltage Vx and a DC voltage Vy corresponding to (x) and (y) coordinates are generated at terminals 9 and 11, thus obtaining the position of the point P.
