Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the reliability of a liquid crystal display device, by providing a polarizing plate that has a deflecting plane which is parallel or approximately parallel to the long axis of a liquid crystal molecules arranged horizontally in touching an upper electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:A polarizing plate 415 is laminated to a diffusing plate 409, and incident rays 411 and 412 reach a display device 401 afte passing through the plates 409 and 415. A display part of the device 401 is formed so as to align with the liquid crystal into which a multi-color dyestuff in the direction 61. In case this dyestuff shows the large absorbing power in the axial direction when the axes of the multi-color dyestuff molecules are aligned in the right-left direction as shown by the direction 61, the polarized light of the direction 62 has the highest absorption. Accordingly the minimum absorption is obtained for the multi-color dyestuff aligned vertically by applying the incident rays having the polarizing direction 62 to a display device.
