Abstract

PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a fur brush until replacement by correcting the lying characteristics of the fur brush, by decreasing the peripheral speed of the brush tip part of the fur brush below the peripheral speed of the circumferential surface of a photoreceptor when cleaning operation is not performed. CONSTITUTION:A fur brush 12 rotates in the opposite direction (c) to the turning direction (a) of a photoreceptor 1, but rotates at a surface peripheral speed V2 higher than the surface peripheral speed V1 of the photoreceptor, so that residual toner 14 is swept off by the fur brush through relative motion between the both. The brush tip of the brush 12 is easy to lie in one direction. For this purpose, when cleaning operation is not performed, the peripheral speed of the brush tip part of the brush 12 is decreased to a peripheral speed V3 lower than the peripheral speed V1 of the photoreceptor circumferential surface by a speed switching means. The lying characteristics of the brush tip of the fur brush are corrected and the brush tip is held facing in the radius direction for a long period.
