Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect and report the ending of battery life with high precision, by measuring the internal resistance of the power battery and by giving a warning of the ending of the battery life. CONSTITUTION:A switching element S0 is turned on and off by a signal (a), and switching elements S2 and S1 are turned on instantaneously by signals (c) and (b) respectively, so that capacitors C2 and C1 are charged to a potential[R/ (R+r)]E determined by the ideal potential E of a battery B, the internal resistance (r) of the battery B, and a resistance R. When the internal resistance (r) basd upon the potential exceeds a prescribed value, a comparator CMP generates a battery-life warning signal. Therefore, large variation in the internal resistance of even an alkali-manganese battery which has less constant-voltage variation in its life-ending period is detected in the life-ending period to give a warning of battery life with high precision.
