Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve positional precision of a dot by a method wherein drops of ink charged in an intended potential are jetted and electric charges are removed from nothing but drops of ink which are not used for printing and those drops are caught. CONSTITUTION:A power source is connected with an ink jet head 1 and definite negative charges are always given to jetting drops of ink. Then, a signal source 10 is connected with an antistiatic electrode 9 arranged at the point of the nozzle of the head 1. If a signal-Vc is applied to the eletrode 9 when certain drops of ink is not used for printing, electric charges of reverse polarity are induced at the point of the jetted ink an changed into drops of ink of zero potential so that the negative potential with which the ink at the point of the nozzle was charged before is neutralized properly. A little deviation which occurs in the precision of the antistatic voltage is not important because the jetted drops of ink having charges of reverse polarity are nonprinting drops of ink.
