Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a narrow particle size distribution polyolefin freed from a need for removing catalyst residues in the polymer, by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a specified solid component and a specific organometallic compound.
CONSTITUTION: A solid component (A) is obtained by contacting, at 0W300°C for 1minW48hr, (a) an Si oxide and/or an Al oxide, such as SiO2 and Al2O3, with (b) a compound of the formula: ROH, wherein R is a C1W20 hydrocarbon residue, such as methanol, (c) a compound of the formula: R'-O-R", wherein R' and R" are each R, such as dimethyl ether and (d) a substance obtained by allowing a Mg halide and/or a Mn halide to support a Ti compound and/or a V compound. Then, an olefin is polymerized at normal pressure W 70kg/cm2 and at 20W300°C in the presence of a catalyst comprising component A and (B) an organometallic compound containing a metal of Groups IWIV of the periodic table.
