Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a highly active catalyst component with high polymer productivity for α-olefin polymerization comprising an Mg compound, a polytitanic acid ester, and a liquid halogen compound of Ti or V.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An Mg compound such as MgF2 or Mg(OC2H5)2, (B) 1× 10-3W2mol% polytitanic acid ester expressed by the formula I (where R1W4 are same or different hydrocarbon residue; n≤20), (C) 1×10-3W50 Si/Mg atomic ratio of a polymeric Si compound expessed by the formula II (where R5 is hydrocarbon residue), (D) 1×10-3W50mol% liquid halogen compound such as TiCl4, or VOCl3, and, if necessary, an electron-donating compound and/or an inorg. halogen compound are allowed to contact in the presence of a dispersing medium such as carbon tetrachloride at -50W200°C for 10minW5hr.
