Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the production cost of large-size molds etc. and lessen manpower by coating parting powder on the surface of a pattern provided in a metal flask and blowing a binder and aggregate then filling the metal flask inside with reinforcing sand and parting the mold.
CONSTITUTION: A pattern 1 is installed in a metal flask and a parting powder layer 2 is formed on the surface of said pattern 1. Thence, a liquid-form binder 3 contg. fine powder for coat such as silica sand powder and a binder such as phenolic resin is blown thence aggregate 4 such as silica sand is blown and is secured to the binder layer 3. Further, the liquid-form binder and aggregate are blown simultaneously or alternately, whereby laminar facing sand A of about 2W20mm thickness is formed and is thence hardened. Next, the space in the metal flask is filled with reinforcing sand and the pattern 1 is parted, whereby the mold is obtained. The formation of the facing sand is made easy by this method irrespective of the shape and position of the pattern 1. In addition, the laminar facing sand of high density and strength is obtainable; hence, the facing sand is made thin.
