Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate sealing work and maintain the quality of a finished panel by using cloth-type glass material which is formed by combining fiber-type low melting point glass as sealant. CONSTITUTION:Cloth-type glass material which is formed by combining fiber-type low melting point glass is used as the sealant which seals the circumference of the opposed substrates of display panels, such as gas dischange panels, fluorescent glow tubes, and liquid crystal panels. After the woven or unwoven sealant which was formed by using fine fiber-type glass is heated for some 10min at about 400 deg.C and its surface is heated softly, it is molded to a specified shape (for example, tape shape) 22 with the use of press and cutting and is arranged near one glass substrate 21. Subsequently, the other glass substrate is put on it. While the substrates are being pressed with springs, the sealant is heated in a heating furnace of about 400 deg.C and sealing is completed.
