Abstract
PURPOSE: To realize a high-accuracy detection of the rotational frequency in a short time, by giving an iteger-fold multiplication to the frequency of the AC signal corresponding to the rotational frequency by the PLL.
CONSTITUTION: The teeth of the gear 2 forming the converting unit 4 fixed to the crank shaft of the engine or the like are detected by the electromagnetic pickup 3, and then the AC signal of the frequency proportional to the rotational frequency of the engine is produced. This signal is turned into the signal of the frequency which is multiplied by N-fold through the PLL6 incorporating the phase comparator 9, voltage control oscillator 7, 1/N-divider 8 and others via the waveform shaping circuit 5 each. Thus the counting period is controlled for the counter 13 which detects the rotational frequency by counting the clock supplied from the reference pulse generator 12 in the measuring circuit 14. In such way, a high-accuracy detection is made possible for the rotational frequency in a short time with a simple constitution without increasing the number of teeth of the converting unit.
