Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the temperature of cooling water of the internal combustion engine in a suitable state by a method wherein an electromagnetic clutch and a fluid coupling are connected in series between a rotor interlocked with the rotating shaft of the internal combustion engine and a cooling fan to air-cool a radiator.
CONSTITUTION: The cooling device of the internal combustion engine is provided with a cooling fan 4 for air-cooling the radiator and a cooling water pump to circulate cooling water. When an excitation coil 22 is excited, the rotor 8 is rotated to revolve the shaft 6, pump runner 7 and the cooling ran 4 and the radiator is air- cooled. At this time, the rotor 8 is slipped due to viscous oil 21 when rotating in high speed, the cooling fan 4 is not turned in high speed nor fuel is wasted. The excitation coil 22 is controlled by means of a temperature sensor of the cooling water. In such a way, the temperature of the cooling water can be adjusted suitably whether an operation state of the internal combustion engine or the outside temperature.
