Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance both propelling power and ship-maneuvering power by a method wherein water is jetted by a pump and the propelling power for the ship is obtained only from the jetting force of water.
CONSTITUTION: The jet propulstion pipe serving also as rudder 3 is oscillatably fitted to the bottom of each of a bow part 1 and a stern part 2. The propulsion pipe 3 is supported rotatably with respect to the hull by a cylinder 4 which is fixed at a position slightly rearward of the center of the pipe 3, and can be freely rotated with respect to the hull by a prime mover 12. When the prime mover 12 drives the pump 11, high-pressure water from the pump 11 is jetted through a nozzle 7, whereby a high propelling power in the opposite direction to the jet is obtained at the propulsion pipe 3. When the direction of the propelling force of each propulsion pipe 3 is controlled simultaneously, the ship can be maneuvered freely in any desired manner by operating a pair of steering wheels.
