Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize an alteration or extension of the contents of a control unit without giving any operation to the region where a writing is being given to the control unit, by giving an access to the extended part of the control unit based on the alteration/extension address information.
CONSTITUTION: In case an optional address is set to the address register 3, the alteration/extension address information read out of the index memory device 2 is selected by the selector 8 in response to the selection control signal SEL to be held at the register 3. At the same time, the selector 6 ignores the read output of the base part 1a of the control unit 1 in response to the signal SEL in case the alteration/ extension address information is read, and delivers the ineffective step. As a result, an access is given to the extended part 1b based on the alteration/extension address information. Thus an alteration or extension of the contents is possible for the unit 1 without giving any operation to the region 1a where a writing is already given in the unit 1.
