Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the high rate width-gauge control rolling possible to prevent the generation of cracks, by continuously casting the specified middle and low carbon steel while continuing the moderate slow cooling from the start till arriving at the just front of the warming zone, and next, by warming the billet at the specified temperature region, and then, by carrying out the hot rolling pass.
CONSTITUTION: The middle and low carbon steel, containing 0.01W0.25% C, ≤150ppm O2, ≤0.03% S, and ≥10 Mn/S ratio, is continuously cast while continuing the moderate slow cooling at the ≤1°C/sec rate from the start till arriving at the just front of the warming zone. Following to this, this steel billet is warmed at a temperature range regulated to 950W1,300°C for at least 10min; after that, this steel billet is hot rolled at a rate 50mm or larger/one pass for one side. According to this constitution, the sheet type precipitation to be the cause of the rolling cracks can be perfectly spheroidized and the fine spheroidal precipitations can be made coarse spheroidal particles; hereby, even if the hot rolling for the high rate with reducing is applied to this billet, the generation of both of surface flaws and internal cracks can be prevented.
