Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the solar angle with a simple and compact device, by sensing an incident light beam from a pin hole provided through the measuring surface, at the surface on which charge coupling elements are arranged in two dimensions. CONSTITUTION:The pin hole 4 which serves as incident hole for the sun light is provided through the measuring surface of a sensor. The charge coupling elements 5 in two dimensions on which a plurality of picture elements are arranged are provided in parallel with said measuring surface with a specified distance being provided. The light beam from the pin hole 4 is irradiated to the position corresponding to the relative angle between the sensor and the sun light, and the electric charge is stored at the position where the circular spot hits, depending on the amount of the light. The video output signals as illustrated are obtained by transferring said electic charges and scanning in two dimensions, the position of the circular spot is sensed in two dimensions, and the X and Y components of the spectrum indicating the direction of the sun is computed.
