Abstract

PURPOSE: A lubricant for rolling having improved surface cleanability even in direct annealing, obtained by blending oil for rolling consisting essentially of a mineral oil, etc. as a base oil with a chelating agent reacting with a metal ion to form a nonchargeable complex, followed by converting the blend into a lubricant.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Oil for rolling consisting of a mineral, or animal or vegetable oil as a base oil is blended with (B) a chelating agent comprising a compound having a basic group to be changed into an anion and a nonchargeable basic group respectively as a ligand, reacting a metal ion to form a nonchargeable complex, to give the desired lubricant for rolling. A stable compound readily subliming by heating is preferable as the ingredient B, and a chelating agent of β-diketone, e.g., 2,4-pentadione, 2,2,6,6,-tetramethyl-3,5-peptadione, etc. may be cited as the preferable instance.
