Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a light and stiff housing for a brake servo unit of a car by designing it with two bodies, which are coupled to each other with a cylindrical coupling member, and by dividing each of the bodies into two chambers using a slidable diaphragm installed at the outside surface of said coupling member.
CONSTITUTION: Bodies 2, 3 are coupled to each other with a coupling member 9, which is provided with a flange 10 at his one end solidly as in a single body, where said flange 10 shall be situated mating with the bottom wall 5 of the body 2. The housing 1 is mounted on the car body with the flange 10 and the body 2 interposed. The other end of said coupling member 9 is coupled to a brake master cylinder 13. A diaphragm 18, an end of which is fastened to the peripheral parts 7, 8 of the bodies 2, 3 air-tightly and the other end slides airtightly on the outside surface of the coupling member 9, is mounted to divide each of the bodies into a negative pressure chamber 19 and an atmospheric pressure chamber 20. According to this arrangement, where mounting is made through coupling member 9, no mounting strength is requested to the bodies, which can be now designed with light weight, and a stiff housing for a brake servo unit is obtained.
