Abstract
PURPOSE:To make an optical connector small in size and easy to manufacture by inserting the optical fibers put on with sleeves into the grooves of a pair of multicore holders of a cylindrical shape having plural grooves on the outside circumference by leaving one groove, clamping the outside diameter by means of ringlike elastic members, adhering there and polishing the end faces then inserting guide pins into the grooves thereby coupling these. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 11 put on with sleeves 12 are inserted into the grooves 14 of multicore holders 13 having plural grooves 14 on the outside circumference by leaving one groove, and ringlike elastic members 16 are inserted onto the outside circumference thereof and are clamped, thence these are adhered and fixed by means of an adhesive agent such as silicone resin or epoxy resin. After the end faces are polished, pins 17 and 18 are inserted and fixed into the remaining groove 14 of one multicore holder 13 out of a pair of the multicore holders 13 and a central hole 15. The holders are then mounted into, for example, a plug 19 and a receptacle 20, and are fixed by adhering, after which with the pins 17, 18 as a guide, they are coupled by way of a cap nut 21. Thereby, the optical connector is made small in size and easy to produce.
