Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the extremely highly accurate and voluminous production of plugs by continuously providing a small hole having a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the optical fiber removed of its covering and a hole in which an optical fiber core is led in. CONSTITUTION:A plug 12 has a small hole 4 having a diameter very slightly larger than that of the optical fiber 10 removed of its covering and a hole 13 relatively larger than the optical fiber core 1, on its central axis, both holes being formed continuously by a tapered part 14. Consequently, the optical fiber plug of high accuracy may be volume-produced by inserting the optical fiber 10 stripped of the covering 9 of the optical fiber core 1 into the small hole 4 and the remaining optical fiber core 1 into the hole 13 then securing the plug and optical fiber core by means of adhesive agents or like and polishing the plug end face.
