Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a larger flexural and torsional rigidities of a side sill of a motor- vehicle as well as reduce the number of the parts by forming reinforcement mounted inside the side sill and bulkheads in one body. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcement 2 is longitudinally mounted inside a side sill 1 to improve its flexural rigidity. The reinforcement 2 has a U-shaped cross section, and its walls 9-11 are provided with projections 12-14 inwardly. The projections on the upper and lower walls 9 and 11 point towards the rear of a vehicle body, and those on the side wall 10 towards the front of the body. The ends of these projections are spot-welded together to form bulkneads 3'.
