Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a stringer material whose crystals are hard to coarsen by homogenizing an Al alloy contg. a specified amount of constituent elements followed by hot rolling, cold rolling to a predetermined thickness and softening under predetermined conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of 5.1W8.2% Zn, 1.8W3.4% Mg, 1.2W2.6% Cu, ≤0.20% Ti, and the balance Al and impurities or further contg. 0.18W0.35% Cr and/or 0.05W0.25% Zr is homogenized by sufficient heating at about 400W490°C for about 4W48hr. It is then hot rolled at about 350W470°C and cold rolled at ≥20% reduction ratio. The cold rolled material is softened by rapid heating to 320W500°C within 30min to obtain a stringer material whose crystals are hard to coarsen. After the hot rolling keeping at about 360W460°C and cooling to about 260°C at ≤ about 30°C/hr cooling rate may be carried out.
