Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively utilize industrial waste oil in place of coke in the manufacture of sintered ore with a Dwight-Llyod sintering machine by blowing the oil over the surface of a starting material packed layer behind the outlet of the firing furnace in a vaporized state to eliminate the volatilization loss of the oil.
CONSTITUTION: Vaporized gas blowing hoods 36 are placed on starting material layer 1 of the sintering machine behind the outlet of firing furnace 8. Sintered ore is cooled with a cooler, and hot air heated to 200W300°C is fed to hoods 36 from hot air hoods 43 with blower 33 through dust collector 32 and air feed pipe 35. Waste oil feed pipe 15 is connected to an intermediate part of pipe 35 to feed various waste oils discharged from a plant to pipe 35 from tank 11, and the fed oils are vaporized with the hot air and sprayed over layer 1 just behind furnace 8. The oils are burned in layer 1 and utilized in place of coke. The amount of the oils used is 0.5W15kg per ton of sintered ore, and when waste oil of low firing temp. is contained, moisture or inert gas is mixed into the hot air from tank 21 to prevent explosion.
