Abstract

PURPOSE: To watch wear of the shaft sealing part and permit alarm to go off before the pressure of the sealing oil decreases and hydrogen gas leaks by detecting the increase of the flow rate of the sealing oil sent to the shaft sealing part, in the shaft seal for a hydrogen cooled turbine generator having a large capacity.
CONSTITUTION: The hydrogen gas sealed in the equipment of a turbine generator 6 is sealed in the shaft sealing part 5 by the sealing oil supplied from an oil pump 2. Into the oil pump 2, oil is supplied from an oil vessel 1, and the oil amount is controlled to the constant discharged oil pressure by a safety valve 3. When the amount of the oil sealed which flows in the shaft sealing part 5 increases abnormally over the capacity of the oil pump 2, a pressure switch 4 operates, but the pressure for preventing leak of hydrogen gas is hardly maintained. Midway on the piping for feeding sealing oil, a flow meter 7 is fitted, and thus the increase of the flow amount can be detected in early time, and shortage of the sealing pressure as a result of the fact that the oil flow amount increases above the capacity of the pump 2 can be prevented beforehand.
