Abstract

PURPOSE: In a packed bed type reactor, the flow direction of the reaction mixture is made different from that of the gas in the packed bed and a space is provided to exclude the gas coming out of the packed bed to the outside of the reactor, thus reducing the gas hold-up in the packed bed.

While the reactant proceeds through the inside of the packed bed in the flow direction 4, it reacts with the catalyst and comes out of the outlet 3. The gas resulting from the reaction 5 is made to flow in the direction 5 and to pass through the packed bed and is collected in the space above the packed bed 1, finally it is excluded through outlet 8 to the outside of the reactor. Thus, the catalyst particles are prevented from blocking.
