Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a solvent, etc. industrially advantageously with easy separation, removal, and reproduction of a catalyst, by reacting an ester of nitrous acid with CO in a liquid phase in the presence of the catalyst consisting of a platinum group metal or its salt at a partial pressure of carbon monoxide and at temperature under constant conditions.
CONSTITUTION: An ester of nitrous acid is reacted with CO in a liquid phase in the presence of a catalyst of a platinum group metal or its salt at a partial pressure of carbon monoxide 0.1W3kg/cm2 at 20W150°C, to give a carbonic acid diester. The main reaction is approximately carried out as shown by the reaction formula (R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl). The concentration of the ester of nitrous acid used is preferably ≥5wt% based on reaction solution usually. Pd, Pt, etc. or its salt is used as the catalyst, and, in order to make its recovery easy and to prevent its loss, it is preferably supported by active carbon, alumina, etc. The coexistence of an alcohol and a molecular oxygen-containing gas in the reaction system makes the reaction undergo smoothly.
