Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the head shifting mechanism, by carrying out a head shift via a cam interlocking with a worm wheel engaging a worm. CONSTITUTION:A shift pin 8 is provided to the head base which is attracted toward a tape by the energization of a spring, and the pin 8 touches a cam 16. The cam 16 is provided in a body to a worm wheel 13 engaging a worm 12 which receives rotary driving by a motor 11. Thus the pin 8, i.e., a head 1 moves back and forth by the rotation of the cam 16. The head positions 1a, 1b and 1c in the playing, program searching and ejecting or fast forwarding modes respectively are obtained by cutting off the electric conduction of the motor 11 when the position of the pin 8 is at 8a, 8b and 8c respectively.
