Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the deep drawability of steel and to reduce unevenness in the surface hardness and that in the carburizing depth in carburizing by adding a specified amount of C, Si, Mn and Cr to the steel.
CONSTITUTION: Components of steel are adjusted to, by wt., 0.05W0.2% C, <0.15% Si, 0.2W20% Mn and 0.05W20% Cr. Thus, the Si content is controlled, and the C content is restricted to such a low level. By adding Cr and Mo, unevenness in the carburized surface hardness and that in the carburizing depth are reduced in carburizing to provide uniform quality. To the steel may be added <0.6wt% Mo.
