Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled nonyellowing type coating composition having excellent storage stability, corrosion resistance and water resistance, by dispersing a finely ground resin comprising an acrylic copolymer containing hydroxyl groups and phosphoric acid groups and an acrylic copolymer containing N-alkoxymethylated amide groups in water.
CONSTITUTION: A water suspension type composition comprising 70W45pts.wt. water and 30W55pts.wt. finely ground thermosetting resin particles consisting of an acrylic copolymer (I) obtained by copolymerizing 13W30wt% hydroxyalkyl ester of an α,β-monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid (MEC); 0W7wt% MEC; 0.1W10wt% α,β-monoethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a phosphoric acid group; and 86.9W53wt% alkyl esters of MEC and/or styrene (AE/S), and an acrylic copolymer (II) obtained by copolymerizing 10W30pts.wt. monomer of N-alkoxymethylated MEC amide; 0W7wt% MEC; and 90W63wt% AE/S of MEC, at a weight ratio of I to II in the range of from 10/90 to 90/10.
