Abstract
PURPOSE:To compress transmitted data effectively in case of an original with a large white ground by transmitting information showing whether all lines are white or not in addition to information on a white black skip and then by making a white line skip over lines when the all-white line information is transmitted. CONSTITUTION:Picture signals by lines on an original are set to a change coupled device CCD11 and wirtten in a picture memory 12 at addresses A0-A10 from a counter 13 and they are also sent to a change-over switch 18. The said operations are controlled by a controller 14 using a microprocessor, etc. The picture signal from the CCD11 is branched and applied to an all-line-white detecting circuit 15 and a block-by-block all-white detecting circuit 16 and when the circuit 15 detects the information showing that all lines of a block code are white about two lines, a skip line signal SKIPL is sent to a device 14 to edit the block code, thereby controlling a switch 18. Further, the circuit 16 detects white skip information and applied it to the device 14, which compresses effectively the transmitted data of an original with a large white ground.
