PURPOSE:To prevent the incineration of a light-absorbing material such as graphite, and increase the contrast of a Braun tube by interposing a heat resistance film between a pattern and a metal deposition film which forms a metal back. CONSTITUTION:A photoresist is applied to the inner surface of a face plate FP, a washed panel, thereby a photoresist film PR being formed. The film PR, next, is formed into a dotlike or stripelike temporary pattern. A light absorbing material LA such as carbon black is evenly applied to the inner surface of the plate FP, before separation treatment is carried out by using an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide so as to make the film PR to be swollen and dissolved, thereby only a given black stripe BS being left. After the black stripe BS being completed, a calcium silicate solution is evenly applied to the entire surface of the plate FP. After that, a slurry prepared by suspending both a photosensitive resin and a phosphor is applied to the heat resistancv film GL made of water glass or the like, before exposure, development and drying treatment are performed on the slurry applied.
